New speculations as the real reason behind the ongoing divorce between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt include a photo of the actor and Latina singer Selena Gomez posted on Instagram and the “Maleficent” actress allegedly being a member of a secret society with sordid rites. However, fresh reports just returned to Pitt’s relationship with 15-year-old son Maddox.
Maddox, born on Aug. 5, 2001 as Rath Vibol to Cambodian parents, is one of the six adopted children of the ex-couple. Unconfirmed reports say the reason Jolie filed for a divorce was an incident aboard a private jet when Pitt allegedly became physically and verbally abusive toward Maddox on Sept. 14. Pitt has denied being physical to Maddox.
The speculation appears to have some truth behind it because Maddox -- who once appeared in a cameo role in Pitt’s movie “World War Z” – refused to join his siblings’ reunion with their father during the Oct. 8 supervised visit of the 52-year-old actor.
Unhappy But Emotional Reunion With Pitt
Only his five siblings attended the emotional reunion, but Maddox opted to stay with Jolie. His reason for not joining the event was Maddox did not feel he is Pitt’s son, but he is very close to Jolie, according to Us Weekly. It appears he made the right decision because a therapist who was at the reunion said it was not a happy and fun-filled event.
If Maddox was on his adoptive mother’s side in the ongoing divorce, it is the other way around for former actor Jon Voight who is Jolie’s father. According to the outlet, despite the divorce proceedings, Pitt remains friends with his 77-year-old father-in-law.
Whose Side Is Jon Voight On?
And it is not the closeness -- which started when Pitt and Jolie became a couple in 2005 -- that angers Jolie. It is Voight taking Pitt’s side rather than hers. The publication quoted the “Ray Donovan” star as telling Pitt that it is not just the ovarian cancer genes that Jolie got from her mother.
Voight said his daughter‘s erratic behavior is similar to the temperament of his late wife, Marcheline Bertrand, who died of cancer in 2007. He shared that he also had long periods of estrangement with Jolie. Although the two are on speaking terms, Jolie is not communicating much with her father because she does not trust him due to his closeness with Pitt, according to someone close to Jolie.
