Nintendo Switch has finally been unveiled for the world to see. Technical details however, are bit sketchy which is why its patent is being re-examined to find out what features could be expected.
Nintendo Switch Patent Reveals More Details
The Nintendo Switch patent is supposed to include a touchscreen, image recognition and motion tracking. Nintendo's upcoming game platform may include a compass, GPS and gyroscope. The Switch should also project images on flat surfaces. However, the ones listed in the patent do not guarantee that it will be included in the final product.
Nintendo Switch Patent Reveal Additional Tablet Features
The Nintendo Switch video reveal did confirm that gaming platform will have detachable controllers and tablet as well. However, the video clip has yet to confirm the entire tablet features listed in the patent. The drawings on the patent application showed provisions for a GPS receiver, outside and infrared camera, projector, microphone and speakers. This clearly indicates that tablet or handheld device is quite versatile for mobile gaming. Perhaps a Switch version of Pokemon GO is under way?
The distance measuring sensor and projector as well as the infrared camera can be used in Rock, Paper, and Scissor types of games. IT seems that the Switch has incorporated most of the features of its Wii U counterpart.
The Nintendo Switch patent also revealed its capability of projecting images. However, this particular feature was not presented in the promo video. There is not much detail listed in the patent application either. If this feature is included, what kind of games or application can we expect that uses image projection?
The Nintendo Switch video did not indicate if it's a touchscreen and company officials are silent about it. But the patent application clearly indicates that the Switch has some touchscreen capability. Perhaps Nintendo is deliberately waiting for next year before revealing all of the upcoming platform's secrets.
