One of the big events to take place in WWE's "Hell in A Cell" is a match between Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins. And there are some rumors that point to Owens dropping the belt to Seth Rollins.
While most insiders predict an Owens' victory, at least one contributor from CBS local Sports gives out an interesting theory. Chuck Carroll who has been known to make good predictions when it comes to pro wrestling has this to say when asked who he thinks will leave the ring with the belt:
"Something tells me Kevin Owens will be looking for a new best friend after this one is over. Chris Jericho will somehow get involved in this match. But will he cost Owens his title? I think so. That leaves Rollins free to push forward his feud with Triple H and the two Canadians to battle it out. PICK: SETH ROLLINS"
Pretty interesting, as this will set up a potential feud with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. This will definitely make good TV for wrestling fans. This outcome would also intensify the feud between Triple H and Rollins which could culminate into a big event by next year.
On the other hand, it will be pretty hard to argue an Owens win. Personally, I think that Rollins and Triple H do not need a championship belt to create buzz. That already has fireworks written all over it. My guess is that Owens would still retain the championship with Jericho trying to screw him over.
This would make two possible good storylines. Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho in a sort of best buddies turned bitter enemies feud and Seth Rollins vs, Triple H. Both can have great exposure as the bigger events start looming by next year.
In other WWE news, the company has been rumored to be in talks to buy its closest rival, TNA wrestling. This will make the effectively WWE, the only game in town once again.
The rumor definitely has some meat behind it as according to some court filings by TNA President Billy Corgan (Yes, that Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins) it was written that the company is in some talks with the WWE for a complete buyout.
Corgan is currently in a court battle with TNA regarding some loan agreement that the company failed to honor. According to the lawsuit, TNA is in a heap of financial trouble as its liabilities far exceeds any of its assets.
WWE buying their only competition makes a lot of sense for them. They could absorb the big contracts of TNA stars as well as create another indie type of promotion where they can dump raw talents who would need time before going to the big stage. Plus, they would be getting another market of wrestling fans who prefer to watch the smaller promotions than the more mainstream WWE shows.
With WWE buying TNA, big talents would have no other choice but to wrestle under the WWE umbrella if they want to keep doing their craft in the US. This is definitely a win for the WWE no matter where you look at it.
