Hideo Kojima Claims That What Anthony Hopkins Said In Westworld Has The Same Exact Theory As His Game Design

Westworld is beginning a new hype for the TV binge-watchers as more and more fans and critics are claiming that it's becoming bigger than Game of Thrones. Some might disagree but still we can't deny the fact that the sci-fi-Western-thriller HBO series is indeed expanding its fan base even including the great Hideo Kojima.

Hideo Kojima is a fan of Westworld

Yes, genius video game developers also watch TV. In fact, one of the most famous of this bunch is the creator of the Metal Gear series, Hideo Kojima. The former VP of Konami and currently the director of Kojima Productions, he is working on a new open world action video game titled, Death Stranding. Yes, that bizarre, mysterious trailer with Norman Reedus in it.

As mentioned, Kojima tweeted last night that he had been watching Westworld. He pointed out that what Anthony Hopkins Westworld character, Dr. Robert Ford, said was a direct theory of his own game design.

Dr. Robert Ford in Westworld Quote

Dr. Ford was the one who created Westworld which is a western-themed amusement park filled with androids. He quoted, "They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagined well-known they haven't noticed before. Something they fall in love with. They are not looking for the story that tells them who they are. They already know who they are. They are here because they wanted a glimpse of who they could be."

Westworld is like video games

In Westworld, people go to this park to do things that they were not able to do in the real world. And this idea is indeed similar with why people play video games.

Westworld Creators, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, even stated that their inspiration came from notable video games such as BioShock, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Red Dead Redemption. So yes, for video gamers, Westworld might indeed be interesting and might even get you hooked! Don't worry, the show is still on Episode 5 so you can still very much catch up!
