Kojima Reveals Details On 'Death Stranding'

Hideo Kojima, the master mind behind the Metal Gear series left Konami to create his own game. He showcased his mystery project at Sony's pre-TGS conference in the intention to reveal more about it. What's the new game? Death Stranding!

For those who don't know, Death Stranding is an action video game coming from Kojima Productions and is planned to be published by Sony for the PlayStation 4. It would be Kojima's first game since he left Konami. The game will star Norman Reedus as the lead protagonist, or so it seems in the trailer officially announced at Sony's e3 2016 conference last June.

What about the details?

Kojima announces that Death Stranding will be setup as an open-world action videogame with a dash of online components - sounds like Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. He adds that the open world will have a certain degree of freedom but will still focus on solid story elements. Kojima isn't ready to reveal what would come next in terms of deep details but he expresses the desire to connect all players 'by a rope or strand element' - as the theme of the game goes. Kojima wants the story, world view, and game all interconnected by a strand.

An engine has also been decided for the game, Kojima added but didn't identify. The game also will support HDR and 4K to give players the most vivid graphics.

Before exiting the presentation, Hideo Kojima expressed again his desired goal for his new group, Kojima Productions. He wants to prove to all that an independent studio can also create AAA world-class masterpieces.

As of this writing, only time will tell how this will roll out, at least for now, Kojima has spoken out about his new creation which fans are already anticipating about. Knowing how he performs with his releases, the odds of it being a world class AAA game would be good.

Hideo Kojima will be presenting on stage this Sept 18 at TGS to elaborate more about Death Stranding, Game Informer reports.
