Pokemon Go News And Update: Here's What Niantic Learned From Halloween Event

Pokemon Go launched its first-ever Halloween event last week and unexpectedly it turned out pretty well. In fact, it made the game regain its popularity following a huge backlash from its players. Now that the Halloween event officially ended, there are couple of things that Niantic learned from the past event.

According to the report from Otakukart, Niantic's earnings doubled during the event which proves that players are still willing to spend some cash for extra candies. Long before, Pokemon Go players are appealing to Niantic that they should add something that could drive them to play the game. Instead, the developer constantly made bad decisions. As a result, there was a huge decrease in the number of active players which affected their revenues.

Based on a theory posted on Reddit today, Niantic has generated more profit compared to people who wanted to earn extra candies during the Halloween event. If Niantic considers to monetize a system that provides extra candies, it is expected that the company will do it in two major ways - Buddy Pokemon or adding a new item.

During the Halloween event, Buddy System was decreased 4 times granting players an opportunity to earn more candies than usual. Niantic will be expected to remove all the event's benefits now that it has expired. However, the company could add a feature for paying customers that will grant them a much lower distance walked for a particular span of time. Considering the fact that this involves a feature that has been proven and tested, it would not be difficult for Niantic to monetize it.

The other potential move is adding a new Candy System, an item similar to Lucky Egg, however it boosts the earned candy for 30 minutes instead of exp. As an effect, it would give players double the amount of candies for every captured Pokemon. Giving extra candies to the customers is the one reason why Halloween event succeeded. If Niantic would consider adding some features, it could possible benefit both parties. It is also worth noting that these potential item additions can be purchased through PokeCoins which can be earned through gym battle or real-world currency.
