The curse is finally over as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in a stunning turnaround in Game 7 last night at Wringley Field that ended the 108-year drought; so-to-speak.
What A Great Time To Be Alive For Cubs Fans
To say that the game is great is an understatement. The game is epic and historic in all proportions. From the build up to the actual games, Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians gave their all. Both teams are considered "cursed" due to not winning a World Series for a long time. Last time Chicago Cubs were Champions it was 108 years ago, when there was no live telecast on the television and the great Michael Jordan wasn't even born yet.
Another Team Blew 3-1 Lead
I'm not sure if this is the current trend right now but Indians are the third team who blew a 3-1 lead in major sports this year. As noted, the Oklahoma City Thunder did it first when the defending champions, Golden State Warriors climbed back the ladder and eventually defeating the Thunder. Then the Warriors collapse themselves as they were dethroned by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thus, giving the City of Cleveland their first championship in over a decade. The last victim of the 3-1 lead is the Cleveland Indians.
What's Next For The Indians?
The Cleveland Indians might be defeated but they should not feel depressed about it. During the start of the Season, nobody was talking about them except their loyal fans. They were not given the respect that some of the teams are receiving. They already know how it feels to be on top and I can guarantee you they are hungrier than ever.
Last night's game is an instant classic and will be talked about for years to come. A story of underdogs battling for the coveted title and eventually there could only be one right on top. Congratulations to Chicago Cubs!
