Samsung Losing Its Tech Prowess: What Will 2017 Be Like For The Company?

Just when we thought that Samsung has finally learned their lesson after recalling the Galaxy Note 7 because of a heating problem then claimed to have fixed, but a few days later they had to recall it again because the same problem arose, and eventually they had to stop production of the Galaxy Note 7 and offer alternative exchange programs for other Samsung devices. You would never think that Samsung will be careful after losing all those money, but no.

According to a written article at BBC, has been forced to recall 2.8 million washing machines in the US after the doors detached mid-wash and even left one person with a broken jaw. The article further states that nine people have reported washing machine related injuries and there have been 733 complaints of excessive vibrations and detaching doors against Samsung's washing machines.

Eventually, Samsung had decided to "voluntarily" pull out all of their washing machines to avoid any further injuries and more potential cases and end up losing more money from their previous catching fire fiasco. Samsung tried to point out that the cause of the problem but some of the customers are suing because their washing machine "exploded" during normal use.

Whether this is true or not, with Samsung's fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 has placed them in a tight position. It is highly possible that Samsung will have to compensate for the injuries that their washing machines have caused and the complaints of the customers who bought the washing machine.

According to another article at BBC, it was confirmed that Lee Byung-Chull, the founder of Samsung had his grandson, Lee Jae-Yong to join the board. But apparently, this has raised many questions from critics, because Mr. Lee Jae-yong has not held any major role at the firm and was taking a place on the board through birth rather than merit. Some also see this as a major step towards Mr. Lee Byung-Chull's overall control of the family-run group.

But if you look at Mr. Lee Jae-yong's background, he has spent his entire career in the company (however how long has not been specified) and is vice chairman of Samsung Electronics. Perhaps given that Mr. Lee Jae-yong's background, he might be able to give fresh ideas for the company's future plans.

It has been confirmed that a Samsung Galaxy S8 is coming, and will likely be the next flagship of the company. Other than that, there are no reports if there are other devices in development.

Though it has been confirmed by some countries that the upcoming Galaxy S8 will not be axed, after the washing machine issue, perhaps there might be some restrictions regarding the distribution of the Galaxy S8. And plus, Samsung has been fighting to regain consumers' confidence.

Next year, Samsung will definitely have a hard time. Perhaps Samsung has something planned for the customers other than the upcoming Galaxy S8 and their exchange program. It is sad that a company that was once praised for its prowess is not struggling to prove the safety of their products.
