For Limited Time You Can Buy Cheaper LG UltraFine 4K And 5K Displays From Apple

On Friday, Nov. 4, Apple announced a limited time offer on LG's UltraFine 4K and 5K displays that were designed to take full advantage of the company's new MacBook Pro flagship lineup.

Discounts On UltraFine 4K And 5K Displays

Apple has announced the discounts on UltraFine 4K and 5K display via its online storefront. For both LG UltraFine models, the discount offers a 25 percent drop from the original list pricing. The ultra high-resolution 5K model goes to $974 from $1,299.95, while the 4K version drops to $524 from $699.

The LG UltraFine 5K version is expected to become available in December, while the 4K version can be purchased now. The current shipping time for the UltraFine 4K version is five to six weeks.

According to Apple's online storefront, the special discounted pricing applies to orders placed between Oct. 27 and Dec. 31, 2016. This means that customers who already purchased the display since Oct. 27 will have the balance retroactively credited to their respective accounts.

According to Apple Insider, the LG UltraFine 4K and 5K displays have been developed in partnership with Apple. The displays were launched at a special media event last week, alongside a redesigned MacBook Pro lineup. The new displays act as Thunderbolt 3 breakout docks for the port-limited Apple notebooks, aside from coming with the extra screen space.

The LG UltraFine 5K Display supports P3 color, resolutions up to 5,120-by-2,880 and measures 27 inches on the diagonal. It comes with three USB 3.1 ports at the back, designed for attaching high-speed accessories. The display features built in camera, microphone and stereo speakers and it can deliver 85 W of power to a connected MacBook Pro, over Thunderbolt 3.

LG's 4K monitor comes with P3 color, a resolution of 4,096-by-2,304 and measures 21.5 inches on the diagonal. Same as the larger model, the 4K display comes with three USB-C ports on the back. However, its USB-C ports are limited to the slower USB 2 specification. The internal power supply of the LG UltraFine 4K display is also limited, being able to deliver only 60 W of charging power over Thunderbolt 3.

Other Announced Apple Discounts

According to The Verge, Apple is temporarily reducing the cost of its many USB-C adapters, in addition to these display promotions. The measure is coming now, after the high-tech company implemented only Thunderbolt 3 ports into the new MacBook Pro.

Apple said in a statement that the price cuts would stay in effect until the end of the year, as the company recognizes that many professionals face a transition. They mostly still rely on legacy ports and older devices to get their work done.
