An unnamed NBA scout believes that the Boston Celtics need to trade for a defensive-oriented big man for its wing defense. He based his analysis on the rough defensive start that the team has experienced since opening night of the NBA 2K17. Currently, the Boston Celtics has had a two-game losing streak.
The Current Defensive Woes of the Boston Celtics
In an interview with Sean Deveney of Sporting News, the unnamed scout analyzed the current defensive problems of the Boston Celtics. He said that there are issues related to poor health such as the cases of Al Horford, Jae Crowder, and Marcus Smart. All three have skipped a number of games so far.
However, the NBA scout observed that even if all the players are accounted for, the team's two big men Gerald Green and Jaylen Brown, are both rookies and need to develop effective and better defensive skills. "I think they overlooked the need for some size you can bring off your bench defensively on the wing when they were building the roster," said the NBA scout to Deveney.
"You know, you're building a team that can spread the floor and play small on the offensive side, but you have to account for how that hurts you in matchups defensively," he continued. "I think they have to address that by the (trade) deadline if they want to make the most out of this season," the scout added.
Boston Is Looking Forward To Getting Back Into The Win Column
The Boston Celtics are looking to stop the bleeding when they meet the Wizards in Washington. There will be 15 games of the teams 23 game schedule that will be played out of their TD Garden home court. They need to overcome their dismal record at the start of the first-round playoff in the previous NBA season.
