It looks like Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele is definitely inseparable - even in real life. Following reports that "Fifty Shades Darker" star Jamie Dornan might be replaced by Ian Somerhalder in the franchise, actress Dakota Johnson allegedly expressed disapproval and threatens to ditch her character as well.
Recently, rumors are rife that "Fifty Shades Darker" hunk Jamie Dornan is going to be replaced by "The Vampire Diaries" heartthrob Ian Somerhalder. In his recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Dornan was asked if he knows anything about the replacement issue. Dornan shrugged, saying, "No. I don't know."
Dornan then revealed that he and co-star Johnson already finished shooting the remaining two sequels of the franchise - - "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." Considering that everything was already set up, it will be impractical to redo everything with Somerhalder.
"That would be really hard for them to do, considering we shot both of the movies," the actor quipped. "That's an expensive mistake, I'll put it that way. But good luck to him-he'll be great!"
To recall, Somerhalder used to be a major fan favorite to play Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades" franchise during its casting process way back 2013. The actor was also very vocal about his interest to take the role during that time.
"It could be anyone, that's how that goes," Somerhalder revealed during an interview in 2013. "One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project, every guy in Hollywood is up for this role."
After Dornan landed the coveted role, rumors continue to slam Somerhalder claiming that the actor was "livid" about not being able to grab the role. However, the actor debunked the said rumors and clarified that he wouldn't be able to do the role anyway because of his hectic "The Vampire Diaries" schedule.
Despite Dornan's statement, many still claim that a replacement is bound to happen. Apparently, Johnson is not taking it lightly. Rumors claim that the actress is "heartbroken" about the alleged replacement of her co-star. There were even claims that Johnson threatens to leave the franchise if Dornan will be replaced.
These rumors added fuel to dating rumors Dornan and Johnson have been facing ever since the "Fifty Shades" franchise started. Many claim that this hinted the alleged affair between the two could possibly be true.
It can be recalled that Dornan and Johnson have been the subject of numerous dating rumors in the past. There were even reports that Dornan's marriage with Amelia Warner was greatly affected by the alleged affair.
However, it is worth noting that none of these rumors were confirmed by both parties. Both Dornan and Johnson have not confirmed or denied any of the said allegations. Fans of the on-screen couple should definitely wait and see how things will turn out between the two in the near future.
"Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" already completed production in July and are slated to premiere on Feb. 10, 2017, and Feb. 9, 2018, respectively.
