Xbox Project Scorpio will be different from the current Xbox One and even the new PlayStation 4 Pro. Microsoft boasts that the upcoming Scorpio console will feature games at native 4K resolution.
Xbox Project Scorpio Versus PlayStation 4 Pro
The new PlayStation 4 Pro cannot run a game at 4K native resolution. The Xbox Project Scorpio on the other hand will be able to do so. This 4K advantage is being touted as a distinct advantage that will finally put the Microsoft console in the lead against its Sony rival.
Microsoft Console Versus Sony console
Both Microsoft and Sony release updated versions of their gaming consoles this year. The Windows Company launched the Xbox S which surprisingly has a 4K Blue Ray disc player. Sony, on the other hand, released the PlayStation 4 Slim which sells for less than $300 on Amazon. It is an updated but sleeker version of the PS4. Sony has also recently the PlayStation 4 Pro which does not support native 4K resolution unlike the upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio. Microsoft intends to release the Scorpio on late 2017.
Can Xbox Project Scorpio Deliver a Better Looking Game?
Microsoft Studio GM Shannon Loftis declared in USA Today that all the games for Xbox Project Scorpio will be running at 4K native resolution. This declaration is a powerful incentive to interested buyers. However, there are skeptics on whether the Xbox Project Scorpio can deliver games at native 4K without making some compromises on other areas.
Critics point out that even high end Windows PCs equipped with the market's latest and most expensive GPU could hardly sustained games at 4K resolution running at 60fps. There are speculations that the Xbox Project Scorpio may run games at native 4K resolution but at a much slower 30fps. If Microsoft decides to run 4K games at 60fps, it may decide to lower the graphic quality. This will make the game run faster but the resolution might look similar to the ones seen on Xbox One.
