Pokemon GO has adjusted the CP of almost every single creature currently in the game. The latest update aims to bring a more balanced gameplay by nerfing some that are overpowered and buffing up the others that are underpowered.
The official announcement by Niantic on Monday only mentioned a few Pokemon with increased CPs: Alakazam, Rhydon and Grengar. Also according to the notes, more creatures will be adjusted moving forward, but no other Pokemon was specifically mentioned.
Thankfully, the patient ones over at The Silph Road managed to gather data. Now, we know which ones have been nerfed and which Pokemon have been buffed.
Pokemon GO Update: Which Pokemon Have Been Nerfed?
Leading the nerfed list are the starter Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Their respective evolutions have also been weakened except for Charizard, which is made even stronger. Following are Caterpie and Metapod. Then there are Weedle and Kahuna followed by the whole evolution line of Pidgey.
Our favorite Pikachu on Pokemon GO has also been nerfed together with its evolution Raichu. Spearow and Venonat are also in the list, as well as Ekans, Nidoran (male and female), Clefairy, Vulpix, Jigglypuff, Zubat, Oddish, Paras and their respective evolutions.
Then we have Meowth and Persian, Psyduck and Golduck, Growlithe and Arkanine, and Poliwag and its two evolutions. The evolution lines of Bellsprout, Slowpoke, Seel, Drowzee and Koffing have also been nerfed.
Others who are weakened are Ponyta, Farfetch'd, Grimer, Exeggutor, Cubone, Lickitung, Seaking, Staryu, Magmar, Magikarp, Ditto, Eevee, Porygon and Articuno. Dratini and Dragonair also now have lower CPs as well as Mew.
Pokemon GO Update: Which Pokemon Have Been Buffed?
As aforementioned, Charizard is curiously buffed. The Pokemon comes along with Butterfree, Beedrill and Fearow. Those who have too many rats might like that Rattata and Raticate have also increased their CPs along with Sandshrew and Sandslash.
The evolution lines of Diglett, Mankey, Abra, Machop, Tentacool, Geodude, Magnemite, Doduo, Shellder and Gastly also now have increased CPs. Muk and Onix also now have higher stats. Krabby, Voltorb and Rhyhorn have also been buffed together with their respective evolutions.
Exeggcute, Marowak, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Chansey, Tangela, Kangaskhan and Goldeen can also be expected to have higher stats from now on. Others in the buffed list are Starmie, Mr. Mime, Scyther, Jynx, Electabuzz, Pinsir, Tauros, Gyarados and all the evolutions of Eevee (except Eevee).
The evolutions of Omanyte and Kabuto are also strengthened. Concluding the list are Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Zapdos, Moltres, Dragonite and MewTwo.
Curiously, only one did not receive any changes in CP and that is Lapras, the water type Pokemon. The full adjustments can be seen over at the spreadsheet, which can be downloaded here. The changes in the Base Stats and Max CP at level 40 are all detailed, so it might be worth checking out for the serious Pokemon GO players.
The overall response to the Pokemon GO CP changes was positive as one commented that it might make for a healthier game. This gives a chance for newer players to have a shot at taking gyms as the stats are more balanced. Meanwhile, a major update that may also bring huge changes is coming soon.
