Titanfall 2's first batch of downloadable content will arrive on Wednesday next week, Nov. 30. As a first DLC, Respawn Entertainment will give it for free to gamers who have already pre-ordered the game. As the DLC drops next week, players will be able to enjoy the game with new maps, customized titans thanks to new kits and other cosmetic enhancements through the in-game store.
Angel City's Most Wanted
The new DLC is dubbed as Angel City's Most Wanted and was delivered with the new Angel City map as promised. Those who pre-ordered Titanfall 2 will get the DLC far earlier than others on Nov. 30 instead of Dec. 3 for the rest of the players who wish to avail the DLC. Aside from the new multiplayer map, Angel City, the upcoming DLC will provide six new kits for each titan found in the game, a new execution and a Wingman Elite Pistol for pilots. All these contents will be free but Respawn added an in-game store where players can buy cosmetic items like camo, new skins and Prime Titans.
New Titan Kits
With the DLC release, you can now customize your Titan using one of the six Titan kits available. The Ion: Refraction Lens kit allows you to split the Splitter Rifle five ways. In Scorch: Scorched Earth kit, you can ignite the ground with Flame Core and leave thermite in the wake. The Northstar: Threat Optics kit highlights enemies while you zoom in on them. The Tone: Burst Loader kit will allow you to store as much as three shots so you can burst fire while you aim using the 40mm. In the Legion: Hidden Compartment kit, the Power Shot has two charges. Lastly, the Ronin: Phase Reflex kit allows Ronin to just phase out of danger in case of doom.
The new Pilot Execution: Inner Pieces will allow you to phase into an unsuspecting victim. The FAQ menu and stats screen are also updated. Cosmetic items will also be available in the in-game store for modest prices per Respawn's announcement.
Game Mode Twists
Aside from the DLC, Respawn also unveiled its plans for their latest Titanfall title until the year's end. The developer said that there will be new "game mode twists" to check out. Respawn hinted that the game mode twist will be about rule sets changing on certain games to give Titanfall 2 a "twist." Basically, the change of rule sets will make gamers deviate from the normal play. The developers also said that these changes will help and force players to look at Titanfall 2 differently. It's a two-way road for players trying things they have never done before and Respawn doing the same thing to see how their new title fares with the changes. Respawn will also host double XP weekends, use its social media channels for giveaways and highlight top Networks.
In-Game Store
The items for sale on the newly-added in-game store will all be sold for a modest price. Respawn has already ensured that nothing of the sold items will affect the actual gameplay. In short, no in-game exchange of currencies will be done in the game. There will be no pay-to-win weaponry, no crafting shards, no locked loot boxes and no RNG to help you increase your game stats. Two new Prime Titans will be available with new assassinations and chassis. Still, the two Primes will function just like their original counterparts.
Titanfall 2's Future
Right now, future expansions of Titanfall 2 will vary in scope and size. Respawn has promised to officially reveal more come 2017, which is just a few weeks away anyway. What's clear at the moment is that Respawn will be fully committed to support the second Titanfall installment and for the long haul.
