'Sherlock' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Grumpy Sherlock Says Hello To Baby Watson; Season 5 Production Delayed Due To Scheduling Conflicts?

"Sherlock" season 4 will be back in New Year and Baby Watson will be with Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his trusty pal Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) as they embark on new adventures. New photo stills reveal that the new dad and the moody detective will have a baby and a canine in their care.

"Sherlock" Season 4 Spoilers

"Sherlock" Season 4 will be the continuation of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Although Sherlock may not agree to having a baby in tow, his sidekick has duties and he can act like the grumpy uncle as much as he wants. Season 4, which will air on Jan. 1, 2017 in the U.S. and the U.K., will be entitled "The Six Thatchers."

Just like the previous three seasons of "Sherlock," there will be three new episodes that fans should watch out for. Just this year, the special New Year episode "The Abominable Bride" won an Emmy award for Outstanding TV movies. The new villain for the season, Culverton Smith is portrayed by Toby Jones. Smith is a character in "The Adventure of the Dying Detective" based on Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."

Smith is deemed to be the darkest villain in "Sherlock" and is described as the purest evil. Given how vile this new character is, he could place Sherlock and the people close to him in danger. The details are sparse on what will happen in the next season but Sherlock will face tough decisions to protect the people he loves.

"Sherlock" Season 5 News

Given the success of "Sherlock" and the number of fans who are anticipating the release of "Sherlock" season 4, having a fifth season is not out of the question. At the moment, however, it could be difficult to shoot another season for the series since Cumberbatch and pretty much everyone in the series are tied up with other commitments.

"Sherlock" season 4 premiere will air on the New Year, Jan. 1, 2017 on BBC.
