Dota 2 News: Burning To Play Support Role For IG.Vitality

IG.Vitality was plagued with visa issues coming into the Boston Major particularly their two support players namely: Su 'Super' Peng and Gao 'dogf1ghts' Tianpeng. On the verge of potential elimination, Valve made an exemption for the organization to enable them to have two substitutes instead of just one. Now, the special exemption may be a shock to you but the revelations about their two substitutes are just as much of a shock as the original story. Today, it's officially confirmed that Burning, one of the most prominent and long-time professional carries in China is playing the support role in the upcoming Dota 2 Major.

Dota 2 Professional Player: Burning

One of the most iconic position 1 (hard carry) players in Dota 2 Esports is Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei, whom had been into numerous successful teams in the past. He is currently playing for Invictus Gaming which was recently criticized for failing to secure a spot in the Boston Major Regional Qualifiers (China). Now, just when all hopes were lost for Burning to make a big comeback, it appears that the long-time Chinese player has gotten another shot onto the upcoming Premier event of Dota 2, the Boston Major.

Burning In the Support Role

Due to visa issues, the two supports of IG.Vitality failed to qualify to the Boston Major and was therefore replaced by two off-tournament players namely Burning and Q (which were both barrowed from Invictus Gaming). Aside from the first-time exemption that Valve has made for the organization, the news about Burning playing the support role came as a shock knowing that the pro player was known to have solely played the carry role ever since he debuted in the professional scene.

The real question now is, will Burning actually make a significant impact into the team? Or will IG.Vitality be one of the first teams to exit from the main stage? But keep in mind that this is not the first case of a carry player transitioning to a support role as Evil Geniuses's Clinton 'Fear' Loomis also made a drastic change following the post-TI5 reshuffle - although the latter didn't find much of a success on the new role.

What do you think of Burning going into the support role? Will he be able to successfully compliment the entire team? Or will IG.Vitality be one of the first teams to walk away from the main stage? Share your thoughts in the comments down below!
