Pokemon Sun and Moon are the only Pokemon games to ever introduce legendary evolutions to Poke monsters. This can happen during the day in Pokemon Sun or during the night in Pokemon Moon. Some Pokemon also evolve and can only be caught when it is daytime or nighttime. This kind of limits Poke trainers to catching and evolving the Pokemon they want because of the time of day. With this guide, you will learn how to switch between day and night into the in-game whenever you want so you can catch Pokemon all day long.
Catch Cosmog First
But before you go on your quest to switch between day and night in Pokemon Sun and Moon, make sure that you catch Cosmog first early into the game. This is because Cosmog gives you the power of controlling the sun or the moon since this Pokemon evolves to become the legendaries Solgaleo and Lunala. These two Pokemon are the cover Pokemon you see in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Solgaleo is for Pokemon Sun while Lunala is for Pokemon Moon. Depending on the version you bought, Cosmog is something that you should not miss catching. Once you have this one Pokemon in Pokemon Sun and Moon, you can move on with switching to daytime if you are always playing in the night in Pokemon Moon and vice versa.
How To Switch To Daytime Or Nighttime In Pokemon Sun And Moon
To switch the in-game time of Pokemon Sun and Moon, you will have to ride your designated legendary. For Pokemon Sun, ride Solgaleo. For Pokemon Moon, ride Lunala. Head to the altar of the Pokemon version that you are playing, which may be the altar of the Sunne or the altar of the Moone, and find the wormhole-like portal that is at the end of it. If you are playing in Pokemon Moon, then the in-game time would be set at night and vice versa. Enter the portal and it will bring you to Pokemon Sun and switch the in-game time to daytime and vice versa. The idea is that the portal is the division between Pokemon Sun and Moon that you can use to switch back and forth into the game.
Why Do The Switch Between In-Game Time In Pokemon Sun And Moon?
So why switch the in-game time in Pokemon Sun and Moon? First, some Pokemon will only evolve during the day. This would be impossible to do in Pokemon Moon where the in-game time is always set at night and vice versa. By switching the in-game time between day and night, you can hunt and catch Pokemon that can only be found by day or by night and add them to your growing collection of Pokemon. The same principle applies when evolving Pokemon in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
A Word Of Caution
While changing the in-game time in Pokemon Sun and Moon is possible, some people do it the wrong way. That is, you might want to tinker around the system clock of the Nintendo 3DS where you play Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon. This is the wrong way to go unless you want to mess up the system and make the trick you just learned here to not work into the game. So be warned.
