Battlefield 1 has been successfully hitting the stores since the day it was officially released. Though the first-person shooter game from DICE experienced some minor issues prior to its release, however, it does not affect the actual sales of the title. Meanwhile, recent leaks have been surfacing the internet regarding an image render for a crossbow grenade launcher. It seems like it will be added to the game very soon.
According to the report from Game Rant, the leaked image was under the profile of DICE lead weapon artist Peter Olofsson Hermanrud. The team still managed to add several interesting weapons to the game available for players to use even though these guns are nowhere near as technical or advanced as the weapons in some present shooting games. Currently, players were able to use the classic weapons such as Martini-Henry, M1911 and even the strange but real gun named the Kolibri. If the rumors regarding this recent leakage are true, it is possible that DICE might add more exciting weapons into the mix.
The rendered image of the Crossbow Grenade Launcher was discovered by a YouTuber named Westie while he was browsing the profile of Peter Olofsson Hermanrud. Additionally, there are other three weapons found aside from the said grenade firing crossbow. These are the Cei-Regotti for Medics, the Harlem Hellfighter trench shotgun for the Assault class and T.E. Lawrence's SMLE for the scout class. These four discovered renders are not available in-game as of now. However, it was believed to be added on future Battlefield 1 updates.
Predictably, the weapon image has now been removed from Hermanrud's profile and now replaced with two additional renders of present guns which includes the MP18 and other scout rifles. For those who believed that having the grenade firing crossbow around World War 1 timeframe is a little bit off, German soldiers were actually well-known to use a weapon similar to a crossbow's mechanism to fire grenades at enemies from the safety of their trench.
On the other hand, DICE is not shy in introducing several interesting weapons to Battlefield franchise. However, as of now there are no confirmation regarding the leaked crossbow grenade launcher yet.
