Are you planning to increase your SR? Then aside from improving your accuracy and decision making skills, you also need to avoid these common mistakes that average people do.
With the fresh new season, the time is nigh to increase your SR and climb your way into the competitive ladder. From a casual player's standpoint, higher SR means longer grinding and intense effort, right? But in actuality, it isn't as it all depends on your winning percentage and how effective you are in finishing each match. If you take it into retrospect, Evermore has reached the SR limit in just under 45 games!
So how do you improve your SR? Well, aside from basic cognitive skills and decision making ability, you also need to avoid the common mistakes which average players do. Today, we're going to discuss what to avoid when you're playing in competitive matches.
Excessive Jumping - One of the common mistakes that players commit is excessive jumping. You may think that jumping can improve your chances of dodging your opponent's bullets but in reality, it gives your opponent a huge advantage against you primarily because jumping renders your pathing and movement very predictable. It's common knowledge that everything that goes up, must come down and this basic gravitational principle will tip off your position to your enemy.
Basically when you jump on either side, your position would strafe in a Parabolic pattern which, from a skilled player's point-of-view, is very easy to predict - landing a good headshot before you even land. The solution? Vary movements by combining strafing, occasional jumping and even ducking. This makes you very hard to read and also gives you an advantage of a confused enemy.

Stalling Your Inevitable Death - If you're the only one left in your team while the enemy team is still full of healthy targets, it's wise to simply commit suicide in order to prevent the enemy from getting their ultimate charged up by getting cheap shots onto you. In Overwatch, there are two things you need to keep in mind: Avoid dying frequently and if you need to die, do it effectively.
Tunnel Vision - As much as possible, you have to avoid tunneling your vision on a single target. We all know it's hard especially if you're out there for some revenge but in actuality, it impairs not just you but your team as well as you'll lose sight of what's essential and the things that needs to be done immediately. Once your enemy knows you're tunneling him, he or she can easily lure you out you're your team fight and quickly disengage from you and help his team in the process. Not only will your team fight against a 5v6 match up, you'll also wind up losing your vantage points specially when defending.
