Kuma and Panda are joining Tekken 7 in its console debut on 2017. The two bears will have their own distinct looks and moves as well as Rage Arts.
Meet Kuma and Panda
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada announced the news during the King of Iron Fist tournament held in Japan on December 10, 2016. The physical and virtual crowd cheered the Kuma and Panda inclusion news. Harada promised that the bears will have their own moves and palette. Players will also be glad to know that even their Rage Arts are separate and distinct. Tekken 7 fans will surely want to watch this promo video.
Kuma which means "Bear" was first introduced in the original Tekken installment. He returned in Tekken 2 however, the bear that appeared in Tekken 3 was Kuma II, a protégé. Kuma I and Kuma II treat each other as father and son. They also served as Heihachi Mishima's bodyguard. Meanwhile, Panda first appeared in Tekken 3. Heihachi also taught Panda the martial arts in order to take care of Ling Xiaoyu. Kuma and Panda have both shared the same palette and move sets in the previous Tekken installments.
Kuma and Panda Love-Hate Relationship
Tekken series veterans are familiar with the Kuma and Panda love-hate relationship. Panda could not care less about Kuma's love for her. The promo video showed Kuma and Panda's distinct fighting styles as they battle each other. Kuma's fighting style now involves using a Tuna fish as a bat.
Tekken 7 Online Tournament
Harada also announced that the upcoming Tekken 7 will have a new online competitive mode. The gameplay involves players competing in groups which can involve single and double eliminations. The fighting video game has surely come a long way from its arcade roots. Tekken 7 is expected to come out sometime on 2017. The game is also available for the Xbox One/S, PlayStation 4/Pro and Windows PC.
