"Outsiders" Season 1 Review
"Outsiders" follows the interactions of an off-grid clan, the Farrells who isolated themselves from the society and lived a Spartan life in the mountains -- paranoid of outsiders. Asa Farrell (Joe Anderson) is a cousin of the ruling family who decided to leave the mountain to experience normal life in the society. Upon his return, he was imprisoned by "Big Foster" Farrell IV (David Morse), the next in line as clan leader, considering him as a traitor in the family.
A mining company took interest in the mountain the Farrells are ruling and sent an eviction notice to the clan. Being the only person who can read among the group, Asa was released and pardoned by the family matriarch Lady Ray Farrell (Phyllis Somerville) and Big Foster's ascension to power was compromised. To secure his position, he led a raid to the town which resulted in bloodshed.
The last episode of "Outsiders" season 1 ended on a cliffhanger as the local police got on top of Shay Mountain and the three clans -- Shays, McGintucks and Farrells -- surrounded them while chanting for storm clouds. Meanwhile, Asa was imprisoned by Gwyn who became the Bren'in. The first seven episodes of "Outsiders" season 1 attracted average ratings of 2.8 million viewers which led to the series' renewal by WGN America. Previously, the network cancelled its supernatural drama series, "Salem."
"Outsiders" Season 2 Spoilers
It looks like they will be able to drive away the police after what looked like a war battlefield. A video teaser of "Outsiders" season 2 narrates: "This is our mountain, our home ... we want you to leave us alone, but you didn't listen, now you'll pay the price."
However, it won't be the end of the problem. In the said video, executive producer Peter Mattei hinted that the conflict between the town and the Farrells will just keep getting worse. The townspeople will try to trap the Farrells by trying to make a massive fence.
Meanwhile, Big Foster who supposedly died in the first season is having a comeback. The clan will look for Big Foster's body but it will not be where it was last seen in season 1. Gwyn (Gillian Alexy) will order Lil Foster (Ryan Hurst) to find his father's body but it was revealed that Lil Foster will get into some sort of trouble. "Outsiders" season 2 teaser shows Lil Foster getting in a confrontation with the local police, and in the next scene, he is smashing bodies in the police car.
As for Hasil (Kyle Gallner) and Saly-Ann (Christina Jackson), their Romeo-and-Juliet-like relationship will have some problems. Hasil will come to look for Sally-Ann after the town's war with the Farrells. Sally-Ann said she doesn't want to see Hasil again but Hasil will continue, telling her "...and I don't wanna let you go." Sally-Ann will get into a confrontation with his brother for seeing Hasil but those make-out clips hint they are going to resolve their differences soon. Watch "Outsiders" season 2 teaser below:
