'The Exorcist' Season 2 Updates: Slater Teases Possible Renewal; To Focus On Tomas And Marcus Working On A New Case

"The Exorcist" wrapped up with a resolution in the Rance Family. However, the threat of the demons still lurks as Maria promises more evil plans. "The Exorcist" showrunner Jeremy Slater hinted about possible season 2 for the horror drama series.

There is nothing official about "The Exorcist" season 2 yet but Slater said he hopes it's not yet the end for the series. "I don't know if this is the end of The Exorcist story, I definitely hope it's not because I love these characters and this world and I have a lot more story to tell," Slater told Deadline.

"The Exorcist" season 1, episode 10 wrapped up the story for the Rance Family as they left Chicago after Pazuzu was banished, but Tomas (Alfonso Herrera) continued to learn being an exorcist from Marcus (Ben Daniels). Meanwhile, Maria (Kirsten Fitzgerald) met with Jeffrey, revealing that she has bigger plans than killing the Pope and that she would not make the same mistakes as Sebastian did.

Slater teased that "The Exorcist" season 2 might tell about the stories of the surviving characters from the finale, who could be Tomas and Marcus. "You will absolutely see them again in the future if we have one," Slater teased. He added that there are more stories to tell about "The Exorcist" world and the first season has barely scratched the surface.

A report suggests that "The Exorcist" season 2 might feature Tomas and Marcus as they embark on a new case. Slater said Tomas and Marcus are the show's center. He also added that each season might focus on a different case.

"I think Tomas and Marcus are the heart of the show and I think that maybe as long as they are both alive they would always be the central focus of the series. But I also think each season would have its own case, its possessed family or individual that needs their priestly help," Slater said. FOX is yet to announce the release date for "The Exorcist" season 2.
