When you hear the name Atlus, the very first thing that comes to mind is Persona 5 since they are the developer of this popular JRPG. Another title that the game developer is famous for is Shin Megami Tensei. However, Atlus is developing yet another RPG that is completely new and different from these two famous titles.
Atlus has just recently released a teaser announcement about the new RPG they are developing called Project Re Fantasy. They said that this will be a fantasy RPG game set in a fantasy world as opposed to Shin Megami and Persona which have both a modern setting.
Atlus also added that they have not decided yet what platform the game will go to nor any announcement about its price and release date. However, Atlus said that they will formally launch the teaser of the game on Dec. 23 via live streaming at 8 PM Japanese Standard Time. Then, at 10 PM JST, the studio will launch a massive recruiting for the said project.
According to Atlus, Project Re Fantasy will feature some of the people who worked on Persona 5 including artist Shigenori Soejima, director and producer Katsura Hasino, and music composer Shoji Meguro. The game is currently in development at the Studio Zero.
Atlus big boss Nauta Hiraoka and Studio Zero's Hashino had an interview with Famitsu where they revealed more about the new RPG. Hashino also talked about their decision to create a fantasy RPG saying they were successful in creating a genre with a contemporary setting and counter the typical. Ow, he said, is the time to challenge the fantasy genre by creating a game which is uniquely Atlus.
Those who want to see the launch of Project Re Fantasy on live stream can watch it either on Fresh or Niconico on the abovementioned time and date.
