Prior to its release, Final Fantasy XV experienced one hell of a ride. Heck, the troubles it had weren't entirely new to the community. Apparently, the game took 10 years (a decade to be exact) in the development phase. Most fans even thought that it won't arrive, as that period of time is simply too long. At long last, someone (former member) from the development team finally shed some light on the rumored mess inside the studio back then.
On his official Facebook page, character designer and titular artist Roberto Ferrari revealed the disorganization they're experiencing while developing the aforementioned title. He pointed out just how "disorganized" they were, with a total of "200 suffering souls" in the staff. He even added just how frequent the changes were made (something like every three months or so), making it hard for them to finalize anything. As a result, the previously announced release date -- which was 2013 -- was later on moved to 2014 and so on and so forth.
Ferrari mentioned that the direction his team took with Final Fantasy XV was a mistake. That instead, the main story line should've been first completed prior to hiring an entire staff. This move is basically there to avoid wasting time, which was something the designer's team really experienced in the past.
Apart from that, Ferrari also said that there were a couple of changes the studio did following his departure. These were mainly on the characters, though. For instance, in Ferrari's concept, Gentiana was wearing a completely different gown. He even went to say that some of the characters he really like were removed from the game's story.
The Final Fantasy XV characters Ferrari designed were more "ninja-like." These are quite similar to the ones found in Kingsglaive, though they're more Japanese in fashion. In fact, even Umbra has a human form, which Square Enix decided to remove.
