Square Enix has introduced a brand new feature to Final Fantasy XV. It's called New Game Plus, which allows players to carry over a couple of features from the old game to the new one. Judging by the way it works, it definitely changes the overall gameplay. For anyone who's wondering, there are only select features that can be carried over. And yes, this is certainly what this article offers.
According to VG247, the complete list was courtesy of NeoGAF user LordKasual. Be aware, though, that this mode is only accessible to players who were able to complete the main story. Also, starting a New Game or journey is synonymous to overwriting any existing save. So, it's best to use it wisely. Moreover, this new mode doesn't entirely offer any of those expanded difficulty options.
Using the New Game Plus mode in Final Fantasy XV also means resetting certain weapons or items. For instance, the Ultima Blade can be reverted back to its original power and capability. The Regalia, on the other hand, can go back to its base form or state. Apart from that, players will get to keep their stuff -- from items to weapons to costumes to settings to Ascension Skills.
Now, to the brass tacks, first on the list are the various in-game weapons. This already includes all the armingers, which is really a pretty sweet treat. Using the New Game Plus mode also covers all magic and magic flasks. Add to that all the previous skills that players have unlocked as well as the Ascension grid, as long as it's unlocked, too. Moving forward are the items from the NG inventory as well as the likes of photos, recipe and fish caught. Also from NG are the Gils and AP. Last on the last are the outfits, which already includes the Kingsglaives.
The most interesting part here is that none of the in-game enemies will scale higher than the Final Fantasy XV players. So, in a sense, all the levels of the monsters in the game will remain exactly the same. This is definitely a great addition, considering that you get to experience the thrill twice.
Of course, the aforementioned doesn't necessarily make all the players happy. Because seriously, there are those who are expecting to face tougher monsters or bosses. Unfortunately, the mode doesn't allow such thing to happen. It basically refreshes the main game, only that players get to carry over their stuff from the old game.
Well, it's not entirely a bad thing. As what the saying goes, "it's sweeter the second time around." And of course, Square Enix might decide to tweak it in the near future. This is if the studio ever intends to do so, which is really far from happening.
The new Final Fantasy XV patch and the Holiday Pack have different release dates. The latter will be made available anytime today, though. The New Game Plus (which is specifically for version 1.03) has already been unleashed as part of the 3.5GB update.
