Kingdom Hearts III Update: Hikaru Utada's Involvement 'Not Official Yet' Says Her Manager

A lot of fans were excited when they heard that J-Pop artist Hikaru Utada was returning to create another original song for Kingdom Hearts III, but it looks like those plans are not official yet as her manager has given an update on Utada's involvement.

An updated Twitter post from u3music claimed that nothing is set yet in stone. "One correction. regarding Utada's involvement in Kingdom Hearts III, we are eager to do it. however, our decision is not official yet. teru," the tweet reads.

A lot of fans have already reacted to the statement, saying that the manager was "leading them on." But others seem to be more understanding of the situation, saying that the problem could be with the NDA. Others think that Utada's manager also spoke too soon and her work on Kingdom Hearts III was supposed to be a surprise announcement from Square Enix next year.

The upside is that Utada and her team are still very well eager to work on Kingdom Hearts III. It is only a matter of time before a fully solidified deal comes up between the Japanese celebrity and the studio.

Before this update, Utada's manager had posted, "We'll do it. Actually we have already started. Sorry for keeping you waiting." A lot of fans were elated to hear the news because Utada had provided the theme for the first Kingdom Hearts game, "Simple and Clean" back in 2002; her returning to the franchise would mean a lot for those who have been heavily invested in the series for a while.

Kingdom Hearts is a series which mixes elements from both Final Fantasy and Disney and fuses them together in one action-adventure game. Players get to take control of Sora as he and his friends, Donald and Goofy, travel from world to world trying to defeat dark creatures called The Heartless.

No official release date has been announced for Kingdom Hearts III, but fans are expecting it to be released sometime in 2017.
