Audi Q8 News And Update: Automaker Set To Bring Coupe-Looking SUV

Auto Shows are always interesting since it is where people get first look at the latest models from different automakers as well as their new concept vehicles. Audi's Q8 concept is one of those that attracted a substantial amount of attention as it is basically an SUV but it looks more like a coupe.

Audi Q8 Concept: The Coupe-Looking SUV

According to a report from Slash Gear the exterior resembles that of the automaker's Q7 SUV. It was stated that the Audi's traditional octagonal grille that has a singleframe has been widened for the Q8 along with six upright double-bars and a honeycomb mesh. Simply put that while the Q8 is an SUV, its external features look a whole lot like a coupe.

Audi Q8 Concept: Hybrid Performance

Bloomberg reported that the Q8 will make use of 100kW electric motor and a combustion engine that is capable of putting out 333 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Accordingly, this will be paired with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission with three driving modes that allow driver to switch between a battery-hold mode, electronic vehicle and a hybrid.

Putting it all together, the Q8 will have 402 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The same report also mentioned that the Q8 will be capable of going from zero to 62 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds with a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour.

Audi Q8: From Concept To Reality

Given the fact that the Q8 has the word "concept" attached to it, consumers are not going to see it in the market for some time. However, it was mentioned that in 2018 the automaker will release a model based from the Audi Q8 Concept. At this point, these are the only available information regarding its proximity to production line.

Audi Q8 Concept: Meet It In Detroit

The Audi Q8 Concept is currently on display at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Those that are curious to see what Audi's sedan-coupe concept can head out to the event and meet it there. The event will last until Jan. 22, 2017 as reported.
