Miami Heat Forms Counter-Strike Squad By Hiring Former TSM Players; Details So Far

Miami Heat is adding a Counter-Strike squad in addition to its basketball team. Surprisingly, they are all from Team SoloMid.

PEA CSGO League Fiasco Aftermath

The Professional eSports Association (PEA) is composed of eSport team owners who have decided to formed competitive leagues of their own. The Counter-Strike league was one of their first ventures. Unfortunately, players wanted out since they are prohibited from participating in rival leagues. They also complained that most of the PEA policies were made without consulting or informing them. On the other hand, the embattled organization claimed that the rules it made were for the players' benefit. Unfortunately, many of its Counter-Strike players seemed to disagree.

The situation has also turned ugly for some teams like TSM, according to Kotaku. Its owner Andy "Reginald" Dinh fired Sean "sgare" Gares for his active participation in the protest. In a show of solidarity, most if not all TSM-CS team members also decided to leave the team.

Joining the Misfits

It did not take them long to find a new team though. The former TSM Counter-Strike players are now part of Team Misfits which is the eSport partner of the Miami Heats. They are now scheduled to compete in EPL North America wearing Miami Heat inspired uniforms. A major NBA team backing them possibly mean bigger pay and resources for the Misfits players.

Players Get ESL License

The Misfits also got a bonus in taking all of the former TSM players in. The ESL league license to participate has been transferred to the players as well. As a result, TSM is already out of the league as a team.

NBA Interested in eSports

The Miami Heats is not the only NBA team that has an eSport squad. The Philadelphia 76ers has teamed up with Team Dignitas on 2016. It is possibly safe to assume that other NBA teams will follow the same path taken by the two.
