Samsung recently launched its latest Galaxy Mega series of phablets, including the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and also announced that the devices will make a global appearance; however, a recent report suggests the UK will not get the Galaxy Mega 5.8.
A recent report suggests that the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will make way to the UK in mid-May but the Galaxy Mega 5.8 will miss the show in the country.
It seems that Samsung is getting very aggressive in the bigger smartphone arena, as the recently-launched Galaxy S4 has received a bigger screen than its predecessor and the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is also expected to receive a bigger display when compared to the current Galaxy Note 2.
"We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more," says JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT and Mobile Business, Samsung Electronics. "We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers' varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series."
The Galaxy Mega series of phablets definitely has bigger displays but both the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 remain behind the king of phablets, the Galaxy Note 2. The specifications comparison of the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Mega 5.8 gives a better picture of which phablet is a better deal.
The Galaxy Mega series of tablets may be able to attract customers looking for a bigger smartphone but it may drive customers to other devices if both a bigger display and top-end features are required by a customer.
On paper, the Galaxy Note 2 still has more potential to attract customers than the Galaxy Mega 5.8 or the Galaxy Mega 6.3.
The question arises: will UK customers miss the Galaxy Mega 5.8?
