Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs. Galaxy Mega 5.8: Phablet Wars

Samsung is rumored to be working on a high-end variant of its Galaxy Duos smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy Mega 5.8.

The GT-I9152 or Galaxy Mega is speculated to boast a massive 5.8-inch display and will strengthen Samsung's portfolio of smartphones for 2013, along with the much-rumored Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

The follow-up to the successful Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy Note 3, is slated to release in the second half of 2013 and will pack in a much-improved S Pen stylus.

Here we take a look at what lies under the hood of the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Note 3:

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 is slated to house a dual-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.

Form Factor

The Galaxy Note 3 is speculated to measure 84.9 x 161.9 x 8.9 mm when compared to the Galaxy Mega's 164 x 83.8 x 9.7mm dimensions, making the Note 3 shorter, wider and thinner than the former.

Both the smartphones will likely pack in a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper. Some speculations also hint at a 3-megapixel secondary camera for the Galaxy Note 3.

Memory

The Galaxy Note 3 will come with 16/32/64GB on-board storage and possibly a 128GB one. The smartphone will also have the option to expand the memory (to an additional 64GB) via a microSD card.
