Bandai Namco Entertainment has just announced that the crossover video game “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online” is heading to other countries aside from Japan. Along with the announcement, a trailer for the said video game has been released.
Bandai Namco Entertainment clearly has a lot of things up their sleeves as they keep on announcing great news again and again. This time it has confirmed that the crossover video game between “Accel World” and “Sword Art Online” will be released in North America and Europe as well. The said video game, which is also referred to as “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight” has been announced as early as October 2016.
Developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online” is set on a massively multiplayer online video game in 2026 with the main characters of each franchise reprising the roles as playable characters. The game combines the worlds of the mystic fantasy realm of “Sword Art Online” and the mecha advanced realm of “Accel World”. The said video game also boasts of an action adventure gameplay with both protagonists teaming up, putting into action their amazing skills sets.
According to the trailer for “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online”, the story is set on saving Yui, who has gone missing amidst the chaos thanks to two worlds merging. Svart Alfheim from “Sword Art Online” and the Accelerated World from “Accel World” are brought together as its main stars regroup to head on a journey to save the damsel in distress from a common enemy named Personna Babel. Also, it has been teased that the video game will be revealing a new character, which they have called Ash Roller that seems to be a dead ringer for the Marvel character named Johnny Blaze, also known as Ghost Rider, because of his motorcycle and flaming suit.
This is not the first time that “Sword Art Online” and “Accel World” joined up for a project. The protagonist of “Accel World” named Kuroyukihime, has already appeared as a guest character in the action role-playing game titled “Sword Art Online: Lost Song”. The said game was released starting in March 2015 for Japan, featuring Kuroyukihime in its Weapon Instrumentalist game patch update. This will be the third collaboration game for “Accel World” game series and the second joint project with “Sword Art Online”.
On the other hand, “Sword Art Online” has already released a number of video game titles under its belt. “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight”, which will be released in just a few months will be the most recent installment. The first video game for this franchise dates back to 2013 when it released a Japanese game for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The “Sword Art Online” may have debuted years ago as a light novel, but it has become popular enough to spawn various adaptations ranging from television series to movies.
“Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight” was has been announced to be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Portable. Though the said crossover video game is still in the works, the developers have already released some gameplay footage through its trailers to show gamers what the up and coming video game will look like. “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millenium Twilight” is set to release first in Japan on March 16 and will be followed by a worldwide release in the summer.
