Nvidia Shield TV Can Now Be Played With PlayStation And Xbox Controllers

The NVIDIA Shield TV can be paired with PlayStation and Xbox controllers. Owners of the 2015 and 2017 versions of the NVIDIA Shield TV will be delighted to know that they might be able to play on the set-top box using the controllers from the two other popular gaming consoles.

This is what a number of people are saying online. According to reports, owners of the Android TV set-top box are now using their official PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox One S game controllers to play on the NVIDIA Shield TV through Bluetooth.

NVIDIA has yet to explain why the pairing was made possible but some are pointing their fingers at the latest Android Nougat update that both Shield variations recently received. It is also not known if the pairing was built into the system in one of the latest NVIDIA Shield TV updates.

How to pair the controllers with the NVIDIA Shield?

There are varying methods discussed by those who claim to have successfully paired their controllers with the NVIDIA Shield TV. The PlayStation DualShock 3 game controller can be paired by first connecting the controller to the Shield using the USB. Proceed to the Setting menu and look for the Accessories section. Once the controller is listed, simply disconnect the USB cable.

The PlayStation DualShock 4 can also be paired by pressing and holding the PS and Share buttons until the lights start to blink. Go to 'Add accessory' in the Settings menu and wait for the NVIDIA Shield to search for the controller through Bluetooth. Once done, simply put the controller in pairing mode. Android Authority mentions that not one of those who have claimed that the Xbox One controllers can be used with the NVIDIA Shield TV has explained how they were able to do it.
