A couple of news about the NES Classic Edition involves a lucky winner and a new hack that solves one of the annoying issues of the gaming console.
Despite the popularity of the mini NES Classic, it is not exempt from a few issues such as short controller cords and a limited game library. Fortunately, the former has been solved with wireless controllers while hackers and modders have dealt with the latter.
The other main concern with the mini NES is the need to press the Reset button manually to go back to the home screen. That too has been solved. The solution to the miniature console's most glaring problem -- its scarcity -- remains, well, scarce. One woman, however, was lucky enough to get her hands on a free NES Classic.
Hakchi2's Homescreen Shortcut
The hacker behind Hakchi2 has paved the way for the NES Classic owners to enjoy more than the 30 pre-installed games and has, in fact, recently been able to figure out how to add over 600 games to the mini NES.
The NES Classic hacker is back with the solution to the home screen issue. It turns out a gamepad shortcut can be customized to allow the player to return to the home screen without having to press the Reset button. The shortcut is as simple as pressing Down + Select. The hack can be found at GitHub.
Ohio Woman Gets Free NES Classic from AutoGuide
Jessica Miller of Warren, OH has been named the lucky recipient of the rare NES Classic Edition gaming console. Miller is just one of the thousands of people who joined AutoGuide's The West Guide NES Classic contest.
While the winner from OH will now be enjoying the retro games in her new mini NES, the other participants of the contest will have to look elsewhere to get their own NES Classic Edition.
