Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0: New Colors Coming (Price & Specs)

If you love the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, but would love it just a little more if it came in gray and red, there's good news for you. German retailer Cyberport.de lists the gray and red versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 on its website earlier as of Tuesday.

Take the news with a grain of salt, since Samsung itself has yet to confirm anything about a red or gray version of the Galaxy Note 8.0. As you can see in the photo, the German retailer lists the two new Galaxy Note 8.0 colors as "rot" and "grau" — German for red and gray, if you needed the translation.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 retails at $399, for the base model. In contrast, the iPad mini starts at $329 and has a screen almost as large. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and has 2GB RAM. It runs Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 out of the box with Samsung's custom TouchWiz skin running on top.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 has an 8-inch LCD display with a 1280 x 800 resolution. It has a 5-megapixel camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

While the screen is sharper than that of the iPad mini, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is still a tough sell. Aside from its resolution (which the upcoming iPad mini 2 will surely match or beat), it's difficult to find many advantages over Apple's product, aside from the S-Pen.
