Today, Microsoft announced its plans to launch the Visual Studio 2017 on March 7. The Visual Studio 2017 went into public last March 2016 and was in November 2016. Microsoft Will Release Visual Studio 2017 Soon

Visual Studio 2017, Microsoft's cross-platform IDE (integrated development environment), will finally be seen on March 7 during a two-day launch event. The upcoming event will feature interactive demonstrations and training sessions. It will also be live-streamed from the Visual Studio website. The news comes as Microsoft celebrates the 20th anniversary of Visual Studio. The corporate vice president of Visual Studio at Microsoft, Julia Liuson, noted in her announcement that many have changed in the past two decades.

"Over the years, Visual Studio grew from an IDE to a suite of products and services, including Visual Studio Team Services, Visual Studio Code, and many others," according to a longtime staff on Microsoft. "The family of Visual Studio products extends across platforms, enabling developers to build mobile-first, cloud-first apps that span Android, iOS, Linux, MacOS, and Windows. It also offers industry-leading DevOps practices across all types of projects, as well as tight integration with the Azure cloud."

Formerly referred as the Visual Studio 15 or Visual Studio Next, the release was lined up for general availability in early 2017, that means Microsoft is going to be right on schedule. The first ever version of the IDE which was called Visual Studio 97, was released in February 1997. And now, "as part of the team that created the first version of Visual Studio, it was an ambitious goal to bring together everything developers needed to build applications for the client," Liuson said.

Visual Studio 2017 Brings Enhancements

In Visual Studio 2017, customers will see big enhancements to code navigation, IntelliSense, refactoring, code fixes and debugging, as reported by VentureBeat. Aside from that, Microsoft is also ensuring all customers for a new lightweight and modular installation, a faster IDE from startup to shutdown as well as a new way to view, edit and even debug any code without projects and solutions.

In terms of coding for the company's own Windows operating system, Microsoft showcased some of the developer-friendly functions that are including in the Creators Update for Windows 10 during the Windows Developer Day event on Feb. 8. According to EWeek, Microsoft released an updated status to the Visual Studio 2017 Release Candidate earlier this week. It contains a new templating powerhouse that streamlines the production of new projects using the "dotnet new" command. In addition, there's also a new feature that enables intelligent code completion while writing SQL called the Redgate SQL Prompt.

What To Expect On March 7?

Microsoft will not just launch the most awaited Visual Studio 2017 on March 7, the company will also kick off a live streamed two-day launch event that will be hosted by Visual Studio CVP Julia Liuson. Aside from Liuson, VSTS CVP Brian Harry, VS Mobile Distinguished Engineer Miguel de Icaza and VS and .NET PPM Scott Hanselman will also be at the event. All the developers will be able to engage in the demo sessions discussing the key improvements within the product, with March 8's focus on live training.
