Competitive Pokemon: Which Fighters Are The Most Popular Right Now

The 2017 Pokemon Video Game Championship (VCG) has yielded some interesting picks. Here are the most fielded fighters based on current statistics.

Here Are The Champions

The top two contenders right now are Garchomp and Porygon2, according to Kotaku. Almost half of the competitive players pick them. Garchomp can use Groundium-Z to unleash Tectonic Rage which is better than Earthquake. This dragon also has a variety moves that can counteract many of the best tier fighters out there.

Porygon2 is also popular since it can defeat Garchomp probably with its Ice Beam attack. A number of players though have managed to experiment with various moves and succeed. This is also possible since this particular Pokemon's special attack gets a significant help from its Download ability.

The next two on the list are the Arcanine and Alola guardian Tapu Koko. The fire type Pokemon has respectable stats including attack moves. Its Flare Blitz offense can deal enough damage even against the toughest opponents. By using Z-crystals, the Arcanine can prove as a major threat in the matches.

On the other hand, Tapu Koko's speed allows its Electric Terrain move to inflict 50 percent more damages. It currently possessed the best of electric and fairy type capabilities in terms of offensive moves. Interestingly, ground type Garchomp is weak against fairies like Tapu Koko. Players can also make use of Dazzling Gleam or Thunderbolt using the Life Orb.

Kartana completes the top five competitive Pokemon in the VGC. It has poor defensive capabilities but its attack stat is quite high considering that this fighter is made of paper. Players will need to know how to work around its strength and weakness. Its Beast Boost move is usually countered by any fire move that the opposing Pokemon can muster. Interested viewers can see this video on how to Kartana fares against its opponents. There are also tips available on how to make trades via the Festival Plaza.
