The horror genre is getting another addition to its collection as "Perception" is announced to be released on the PS4 and Xbox One. "Perception" is a product of the developers from BioShock and Dead Space, which was first revealed last 2015. However, it was only recently that any developments of the game was announced. This has come as good news to the gaming community as it has waited long for any developments and expects that this one of a kind game would propel the genre into a whole other level.
What The Game Is All About
According to the International Business Times, the game follows the story of a blind woman named Cassie Thornton, as she explores a creepy and old mansion. The mansion haunts Cassie during her sleep so she decides to look for it and eventually finds the place at Gloucester, Massachusetts. She also discovers that the house is occupied by an entity called the Presence and later on finds out as well, that the Presence has always haunted the people that lived in the mansion.
What to expect in "Perception"
In an article by GameSpot, since Cassie is blind, players must use her walking stick to tap anywhere or they could throw items to make sounds to get a quick vision of the area. It's kind of like how bats use Echolocation, where they make sounds to create a mental map of the area they are in.
However, the player needs to be careful, because enemies, especially the Presence, can also use this sound to locate where Cassie is hiding, aside from her walking stick and mobile phone, she doesn't have anything to fight with. Furthermore, Bill Gardner, Project Lead for Perception, said in 2015, that Cassie doesn't have any weapons or magic powers.
Although the news that "Perception" would be released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 provides a moment of relief, the lack of a release date has many in the gaming community in slow agony as a lot of them are excited to play the game.
