Canadian carrier Koodo has an array of smartphones in its portfolio, including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the BlackBerry Q10. The Galaxy S4 and the BlackBerry Q10 are both priced at $625 without any contract on Koodo, so which handset will you choose?
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the BlackBerry Q10 are quite different when it comes to specifications. The Galaxy S4 is an all-touch device and one also one of the most popular devices but the BlackBerry Q10 is a QWERTY handset and not as popular as other handsets currently available on the market.
The BlackBerry Q10, launched along with the all-touch BlackBerry Z10 in January this year, and follows in the footsteps of many legacy smartphones made by BlackBerry (previously Research In Motion). The four rows of hardware keys are situated underneath a 3.1-inch display with 720 x 720 pixel resolution. The back of the handset is made out of a fancy, glass-like material that is alleged to be stronger, thinner and lighter than the plastic used in many other handsets today.
Moreover, the BlackBerry Q10 is even more expensive than the company's flagship BlackBerry Z10, which has a price tag of $550 on Koodo.
The Galaxy S4, on the other hand, is an all-touch smartphone packed with high-end specifications. Depending on your region, you can expect Samsung's new flagship to sport a 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core CPU or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. As with the U.S. version of the Galaxy S4, the Canadian version of the handset may also have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.
The Galaxy S4 also features a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with 441 pixels per inch (ppi).
It's understandable that not everyone wants to use a touch-capacitive handset and as such, the BlackBerry Q10 may still be a choice for many mobile phone customers looking for a QWERTY handset.
However, if you had that spare $625, would you buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the BlackBerry Q10?
