Huawei is trying to nab the title of world's thinnest smartphone with its newest model, the P6.
Huawei is known for building thin smartphones, and images of the new Huawei Ascend P6, code-named the P6-UO6, have been leaked online.
The P6 is just 6.18mm thick. That's 0.27 mm thinner than the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra, which now holds the crown as the world's thinnest smartphone. Huawei and a host of other companies have gone back and forth vying for the world's thinnest title. In fact, the company once held the title with its own Huawei Ascend P1S, launched at MCW in 2012. That phone came in at 6.7mm.
In comparison, the iPhone 5 is looking a little bulky at 7.6mm. Other manufacturers, like Samsung and HTC, haven't even bothered too much with the "thinnest" title.
The P6-UO6 could feature a 4.7-inch screen, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It could ship with Android Jelly Bean and have an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, according to GSMarena. The teeny phone should weigh a mere 4.2 ounces and measures 132.6 x 65.5 x 6.18mm.
The phone has already received approval from the Chinese equivalent of the FFC, the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA). The phone is expected to come in black, white and pink color options.
The phone will likely be released in Asian markets but there's no word on when, or what the pricing will be.
