The most surprising twists in the NBA trade rumors surrounding DeMarcus Cousins happened last Sunday. As the All-Star Game was going on in New Orleans, the Pelicans sealed a trade with the Sacramento Kings Sunday night effectively sending Cousins to the company of Anthony Davis. It seems the Kings grew tired of hearing these rumors about the big man and decided to stop them right there in New Orleans.
DeMarcus Cousins Is Now With The Pelicans
It appears that this deal will send Cousins, along with Omri Casspi to New Orleans. In exchange, the Pelicans will send Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield and one first round and one second round 2017 draft pick to Sacramento. Some NBA trade rumors suggest that with Cousins in the Pelicans' roster, Davis will now be able to play power forward.
The Pelicans Are Not Through Beefing Up Its Roster
And it seems that New Orleans is not yet through with the tweaking of its line-up. It appears that they are still exploring other options that could make the Pelicans stronger. There are NBA trade rumors indicating that their next target is Paul George. If these rumors are true, New Orleans is really beefing up its roster to ensure its journey to the playoffs.
They Have Targeted George Before
The Pelicans have been making overtures to the Indiana Pacers with regards to Paul George before. This was the same period that they were also trying to target Cousins from the Kings. So these NBA trade rumors may have some credence. If this trade comes true, then the Pelicans will form a formidable Big Three in the western conference.
The Pelicans Will Have Better Chances Of Reaching The Playoffs
With Davis, Cousins, and George joining their forces, the Pelicans will have better chances of reaching the playoffs. Even with just Davis and Cousins working together, the Golden State Warriors will already have a team that will make their trip to the playoffs, not an easy one. Factor in George and the Warriors will have to formulate a strategy to effectively defend their western title.
