'Timeless' Season 2 Still Unsure: Possible Plot Developments If Series Returns

"Timeless" season 2 is still on the bubble. This means its future is still unsure. It can be either be renewed or canceled by NBC and it might continue to be in this status until May. In an interview, series showrunners Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke hinted on how might the series go if there will be a season 2.

The two admitted that they have no idea if the series will be renewed. The series got mediocre ratings of 4.62 million viewers in the US and 1.10 in the 18-59 demographics. However, Kripke assured they would be pitching the series to the network. "We don't know. We'll be pitching season 2 to NBC in April, and I mean, we're hopeful," Kripke told Entertainment Weekly.

Asked about what might happen if the series returns, the showrunners revealed it might feature some romance. Ryan hinted they might uncover Jiya's mystery and her relationship with Rufus. "We're very interested in the Rufus and Jiya relationship," Ryan said. Another possible couple is Lucy and Wyatt. According to Ryan, it was hinted at the finale that Wyatt is ready to forego of his past and move forward.

"Timeless" season 1 finale concluded with the heroes' battle against the Rittenhouse. Ryan added that Connor Mason might be a villain. Mason is a father figure to Rufus and the invertor of one of the time machines reveled to be funded by the Rittenhouse. Feeling remorseful on what may the Rittenhouse do with Rufus, he then gives the details of Benjamin Cahill's activities to Agent Christopher which led to his arrest at Neville.

The heroes would still be facing bad guys in different timelines on a weekly basis. The two revealed some historical figures in their list for "Timeless" season 2. This includes blues guitarist Robert Johnson and Harriet Tubman. "Well, I want Leslie Jones to come over the summer when she's not shooting Saturday Night Live to play Harriet Tubman," Ryan joked.
