The AT&T exclusive Nokia Lumia 900, the predecessor of the Lumia 920, is receiving a Windows Phone update that brings bugs fixes.
"AT&T is pushing out a Windows Phone update for the Nokia Lumia 900. We saw the Lumia 900 make the jump to Windows Phone 7.8 back in January and the latest update takes the OS version from 8858 to 8862 (2175.2307.8862.13100 to be exact)," reports WPCentral.
The update for the Lumia 900 is cumulative and comprises a series of four updates that address the issues encountered by users of the smartphone. Earlier this year, users had reported that the Live Tiles had stopped updating on the Lumia 900 completely. The bugs with the original Windows Phone 7.8 release caused the Tiles to not update and drained data. The current update will address the Live Tile stability issues which were found in the original Windows Phone 7.8 release.
According to NokiaCare, the update brings theme colors, lock screen improvements and fixes Live Tile issues. It also adds new apps to the Nokia collection. This update is similar to the software update Microsoft rolled out in March to fix the issues experienced with the original WP 7.8 update.
The complete list of fixes and improvements the software update for the Lumia 900 brings are:
- New start screen experience with resizable tiles: to change the size, tap and hold the live tile
- Theme colors added.
- Lock screen improvements: Bing photo of the day as wallpaper, and accidental input protection for the security code.
- Fix for functionality issues with Live Tiles, such as Live Tiles not updating.
The update to OS version 7.10.8862.144 will fix the problems users of the Lumia 900 were encountering. The update availability, however, depends on "your network service provider." Once the update is available, users will be prompted to install the update automatically. However, Lumia 900 users will need to connect their smartpohne to the Zune PC Software to perform the update.
