The charts have finally been revealed and it reveals that Sony's new IP, Horizon Zero Dawn, has surpassed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as the No. 1 game. On a different note, is it worth buying a Nintendo Switch solely for the purpose of getting the latest Zelda installment?
Horizon Zero Dawn Claims The No. 1 Spot
According to MCV, the UK charts for video games have finally been released with Sony's latest exclusive topping the charts. Moreover, there also seems to be a clear sales gap between of Horizon and the latest Zelda installment. Moreover, it is also worth noting that Sony's action-adventure game has also become the PS4's biggest new IP launch.
Keep in mind that Horizon did launch a feel days earlier before Nintendo's major title as the former released on March 1. This gave it an extra two days to get ahead of the Zelda installment but its Week One figures are still stellar as it has been Sony's most successful launch since Uncharted 4. Due to its immense popularity, there may be a chance that the company might continue to invest in the series down the line.
The Nintendo Switch And The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
On the other hand, Breath of the Wild's 78 percent of sales stemmed from the Nintendo Switch while the remaining 22 came from the Wii U. Moreover, this has been the third biggest launch of the series right behind Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Despite not earning the No. 1 spot, it still claimed its position as the No. 2 game in the charts.
With this in mind, it seems like many players have purchased a Nintendo Switch for the current prime purpose of playing the said game. In line with this, a report claims that it is never a smart purchase buying a console simply for one game. However, the Nintendo Switch library is still currently expanding with even more games coming in the near future.
Despite its fierce competition, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn are both great games with their respective charms and mechanics. Fans can play the aforementioned titles on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 respectively.
