Galaxy S4: Why You Might Want To Wait For The Galaxy Note 3 Instead

The supposed "next big thing" from Samsung, the Galaxy S4, has been out for a few weeks now, and already we're hearing less-than-stellar reviews that include everything from its overheating and experiencing battery drain to its being nothing more than a feeble update of its predecessor, the Galaxy S3. With everyone so excited about the forthcoming Galaxy Note 3, then, perhaps it may be wise to hold off on the Galaxy S4 and go straight for the Note 3.

There's no question that the Galaxy S3 is a terrific device, despite it too experiencing some battery drain. But the Galaxy Note 2 seems to have been even more beloved by analysts and phone fanboys alike since first being released in late September 2012 with the slogan, "Be Creative, Be Different." We can only imagine, then, what Samsung has in store for its follow-up, the Galaxy Note 3. Here's why we think it might be wiser for some to hold off on getting the Galaxy S4 and wait until the Galaxy Note 3 hits stores (likely some time around October, if not earlier).

Updated specs/features

Being that the Galaxy Note 3 will be coming out as much as a half year after the Galaxy S4, we can expect that Samsung -- always the innovator -- will definitely be integrating some killer new components into the former phone. This is particularly reasonable considering those criticisms that the S4 may really just be a slight upgrade from the S3. Samsung knows the Note 3 needs to be something special.

The Galaxy Note 3 -- a so-called phablet, much like younger sibling the Note 2 -- will likely rock a 5.9-inch screen, meaning it might be as much as an entire inch larger than the S4's screen. Granted, some people might think of that as being a bit too big, but that still doesn't quite make the Galaxy Note 3 a tablet and it should still be able to fit somewhat easily into your pants (a complaint the Galaxy S4 has already received itself, anyway).

We're likely going to see the flexible screen on the Galaxy Note 3, as well as a possible full redesign that would have the Note 3 coming out with a metal chassis. We can also expect the Note 3 to run on Samsung's 8-core Exynos Octa 5 CPU.

Better OS

Whether it's going to be the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, you can bank on the Galaxy Note 3 coming out with the next-gen Android OS, something that right then and there beats out the Galaxy S4.

There's even some possibility that Samsung will be releasing a device with its own Tizen OS that is already getting rave previews just based on concept alone. Could that device in fact be the Galaxy Note 3? When it comes to Samsung, anything is possible.

Improved Stylus Pen

"As one of its core offerings, Samsung's Note series has essentially reinvented the almost forgotten stylus," International Business Times says.

"With the third-generation version, the company aims to further boost users' experience with the electronic pen thanks to the WACOM acquisition and the possible deployment of Sharp's IGZO display technology with the Note 3."

The screen panel of the Galaxy Note 3 may itself implement better technology that will allow for users to find better response out of the device via touch manipulation.
