Yooka-Leylee is without a doubt an awesome new platformer game and it's basically a nod to the 90s where the genre was at its peak. The game is staying true to its roots according to Eurogamer by staying oblique in some of the mechanics and players are only given a few tools to progress - jumping and crouching. Here are some of the best advice, tips, and tricks for Yooka-Laylee.
Yooka-Laylee Tips And Tricks
The players' goal in Yooka-Laylee and the thing they must focus on the most is to collect the Pagies. Pagies are part of a book and they are needed to progress, unlock new worlds, new areas, collectibles, and bosses. There will be several puzzles in Yooka-Laylee that involve saving Pagies from cagies so it's important to take time into saving them - skipping these poor Pagies is not an option.
Trouzer is the go-to guy. He's the cool red snake in pants and talking to him is important since he can give Yooka and Laylee new abilities. Sometimes players may find themselves stuck on a puzzle that may seem impossible to solve but this could mean that they don't have the necessary abilities yet. Talking to Trouzer will solve this problem.
All abilities are important, so players should make sure to prioritize buying every ability they can. These abilities will cost Quills and picking them up as the player goes will be enough to buy abilities before going to the next world. It saves the player from going back again to get the abilities they missed in Yooka-Laylee.
If the player can see it, they can probably reach it - most often than not through jumping and this will be Yooka and Laylee's best tool to progress. Plenty of secrets can be found just by simply jumping their way up everything possible. This is a platformer after all.
Worlds can be expanded but there seems to be no map to document the changes. It is suggested to take note of the significant changes in Yooka-Laylee's world so they'll be able to know what places they have been before and what areas have been expanded. Collecting all the Quills should also be every player's personal goal.
Collectibles And 5 Secret Pirate Treasures Location In Yooka-Laylee
The world of Yooka-Laylee revolves around collectibles. Players will need to collect stuff before they can get any progression, where they will collect even more stuff. Giving walkthrough for each and every 1,202 collectibles is a daunting task, so it's just easier to search for them in the game.
However, there are five items omitted from the progress screen, which means there are 1,207 collectibles in total. These are called secret pirate treasures, which are collectible skulls, that when unlocked, will give the following Trophies/Achievements: "Private Pillage," "Secret Salvage" and "Captain's Cache."
