Back at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), developer Studio Wildcard announced that Ark Survival Evolved will soon debut as an official title. This means leaving Steam's Early Access program come August. But apart from this, the video game company also revealed the game's first sponsored mod called Ragnarok.
According to Kotaku, Ark Survival Evolved will reach completion come Aug. 8 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. It is also expected to arrive in Microsoft's upcoming next-gen console Xbox One X on Nov. 7. More importantly, the official release comes with two collector's editions.
The most interesting part is the release of the game's fan favorite mod map called Ragnarok. This was created by a modder named Excited Kangaroo, and Studio Wildcard just added as one of the official maps of the title on Steam. But for the users of the game's console version, they will have to wait for a couple of weeks before the map becomes available, as reported by WCCFTech.
The arrival of the aforementioned Ark Survival Evolved sponsored mod map marks the huge success of the Sponsored Mod program of the video game company. This was created in order to provide financial support to mods that capture the attention of the developers. Indeed, Excited Kangaroo's mod map made it to the top, becoming the first fan-made map to reach to the game as an official addition.
PCGamesN notes that Ragnarok in Ark Survival Evolved is a massive expansion that comes with a huge map packed with mountains and an active volcano. It also offers a bunch of caves, lands to explore and a whole lot more. Players here will be able to acquire resources such as carrots and sticks. There are even hot springs that players can use as a form of buff. However, they need to be extra careful. Why? Because these hot springs can cause death, in one way or another.
