"Riverdale" is coming back in a couple of months for its second season. As the show officially kickstarts its production, a lot of hints were dropped on what fans can expect from the new installment. Viewers are about to know the fate of Fred and how it will cause a drastic change to Archie's life.
The hit teen drama series based on the "Archie" Comics characters is coming back in October for its second season. The "Riverdale" team officially started production earlier this week with its first table reading. Cast and crew gathered for the event but it was very noticeable that Luke Perry who plays as Fred Andrews (Archie's dad) was missing in action.
It can be recalled that "Riverdale" Season 1 finished off with a major cliffhanger where Fred was shot as he and Archie were about to enjoy a breakfast at Pop's. Fred's fate was left up in the air but there are already hints that he might have to wave goodbye next season.
Apart from being absent during the show's table reading, the first few episode titles revealed hinted on a death coming to Riverdale. The opening story of Season 2 is said to have a title, "Chapter Fourteen: A Kiss Before Dying." Since Fred's life was put in danger during the freshman season's finale, many are guessing that the upcoming premiere of the new installment will feature his death and funeral.
The cast members are keeping mum about Fred's fate but actor KJ Apa who plays Archie revealed that there will be more emotional, more intense and a lot darker chapters coming to "Riverdale" Season 2. He also said that his character will go through a major change after Fred was shot and the results might bring the worse out of him as he tries to seek justice.
Fred may not be the only one in danger though as "Riverdale" returns. Other thrilling scenes were teased as the show initiates its production. Executive Producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also brought to social media to warn Betty's BFF, Kevin Keller, to stay far from the woods as he might find himself in danger. This goes sideways with the revelation of the third episode title called "Chapter Sixteen: The Watcher in the Woods."
Details about the new season of the series are still limited as of late. However, the cast promises a more twisted arc coming to "Riverdale" Season 2.
