The second season of “Quantico” concluded last month and ABC has announced its renewal as well. The television series got another chance when they greenlighted its third season. However, as part of the show’s renewal process, they had to let go some of the cast and bring in some fresh faces.
ABC announced the renewal of “Quantico” in May 2017 because, despite the rumors of it getting canceled, the show had great reviews and a huge amount of avid viewers. The show had a second chance to prove that it can be better and can stay that way. To revamp the show, four series regulars were booted out because the production is reportedly going to focus on a small cast and they will straighten out the complicated web of stories they came up with in the second season.
Actors Yasmine Al Massri and Pearl Thusi have already left the show. Actors Russell Tovey and Aunjanue Ellis are also reportedly planned to leave the show before the new season airs but it has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Blair Underwood will return to reprise his role as Owen Hall. The show’s main star Priyanka Chopra who plays Alex Parrish will of course remain. She will be joined by co-stars Jake McLaughlin and Johanna Braddy.
Aside from the cast, the production crew will be seeing changes as well. Series creator and original showrunner Joshua Safran has stepped down as primary showrunner but he will still be with the show as a consultant. Michael Seitzman has joined the crew to take over as showrunner and executive producer of “Quantico” Season 3. Seitzman is well known for working on various television series such as “Code Black” and “Intelligence”. The revamped “Quantico” Season 3 has been slated to make its premiere in January 2018.
