Moto Z2 Force vs. Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus: Which Smartphone Is More Powerful?

Moto Z2 Force and Samsung Galaxy S8+ are two of the best Android flagships available currently. Both devices are having top-class specifications and features. Here's a detailed comparison to know which smartphone is more powerful.

Moto Z2 Force features a 5.5-inch display with 2,560 × 1,440-pixel resolution and shatter-resistant glass. The device is equipped with the Snapdragon 835 processor and a 12MP dual-sensor camera which is like high-end DSLRs. On the other hand, Samsung's Galaxy S8 Plus has a 6.2-inch display, an iris scanner, and carries a bunch of tremendous features that are squeezed into a gorgeous, curved body.

In the United States, both smartphones boast 4GB of RAM and 64GB of base storage; however, the Galaxy S8 Plus has a slight storage advantage since one pricier variant of the same come with 128GB. Both Moto Z2 Force and Samsung Galaxy S8+ have MicroSD card slots that support memory sticks up to 2TB in size. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus carries Bluetooth 5.0 that has four times the range and two times the speed of the Moto Z2 Force's Bluetooth 4.2.

The Moto Z2 Force is made up from the same cloth as last year's model, with a brushed-metal design and Lenovo's distinctive, 16-PIN Moto Mod docking port. The edges of the smartphone are curved on all four sides, concealing a USB Type-C charging port. And like its precursor, the Moto Z2 Force lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is made of glass and metal. However, S8+ has the presence of a 3.5mm jack and USB-C connector, both of which are welcome conveniences, as reported by CNET.

Moto Z2 Force and Samsung Galaxy S8+, both are water-resistant, but the S8+ has a slight advantage since it's certified IP68, which means it can withstand a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. On the other hand, Lenovo says the Moto Z2 Force's nano-coating can "repel water," but it's not having an IP68 rating.

Samsung Galaxy S8+ has 3,500mAh battery capacity than the Moto Z2 Force, which has 2,730mAh. However, it should be noted that Samsung's battery has to maintain a larger screen. So it is quite tough to compare on the battery backup capacity. For the price point, Moto Z2 Force costs $800 direct from Motorola. However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus starts at $840, as noted by Digital Trends.

The Galaxy S8 Plus is the overall winner, but the Moto Z2 Force trades blows. Motorola has managed to stuff into a compact, high-end package smartphone without compromising its price tag.
