A couple of interesting stories about the upcoming iPhone 8 has originated from Weibo, over the weekend. However, the latest leak shows that alongside the typical black and white case colors, there will be a copper gold color as well in the upcoming iPhone. The new color rumor has originated from an iPhone 8 dummy unit.
A Foxconn vice president has previously posted to his public social feed that the iPhone 8 will not come cheaper due to the OLED display and special design. On the other hand, there are new photos of iPhone 8 rear case color has appeared online on Weibo. However, the validity of the image is not clear. In addition to the usual black and white, the photos portray an OLED iPhone in a copper gold color variant, as reported by 9to5Mac.
According to the leak, in one photo, the iPhone 8's new edge-to-edge display and cutout for the earpiece, camera and sensors can clearly be seen. The rear sides of the units also reveal the vertically-aligned dual-camera system and the sides have an elongated home button.
It's still unclear on whether these are the genuine leaks of Apple case components or these are just dummies made by a third party. However, the choice of the color scheme seems to be interesting. Even if it is a dummy then it is speculated that they are often informed by genuine information coming from the supply chain, according to Apple Insider.
The rumored copper gold variant seems to be an eye-catching move. Apple is expected to reveal the new iPhone 8 alongside iPhone 7s and 7s Plus at a media event in September. Invites for the said event is rumored to go out later in August; until then, these kinds of leaks are expected to come.
